CSE Assessor 2011

Problems Paying Rent

Sadeh Lok has a firm but fair approach;

  • Sadeh Lok believes it is important that tenants should not get behind with their rent and will take sympathetic action to control rent arrears
  • The effect of rent arrears is an increase in the cost of managing our homes and a reduction in the money available for improvements and repairs. This is unfair to the majority of tenants who do pay their rent on time
  • Although Sadeh Lok will always try to assist you, ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure your rent is paid on time, whether or not you pay the full rent yourself or are in receipt of full or partial housing benefit

There are two aspects to our rent arrears recovery policy;

  •  To help tenants who are in genuine difficulties
  •  To take prompt action against tenants who are deliberately not paying

To avoiding difficulties contact your Neighbourhood Officer or the Customer Services Team as soon as possible. If you have genuine reasons for not being able to pay your rent on time, an agreement can usually be reached between you as the tenant and Sadeh Lok as the landlord. In the case of genuine hardship we may be able to arrange for you to pay off the arrears gradually.
