Resident Annual Report 2011
New Number for Police Non-Emergencies
101 is the new national number to contact the Police when it is not an emergency.
As from 17 November the 101 replaces the 08456 060606 non-emergency number and is available 24 hours/7 days a week/365 days a year. All calls to the 101 number cost a flat rate of 15p, even from a mobile and no matter how long the call lasts.
You should call 101 to report less urgent crime or disorder, e.g. to report a stolen car, if property has been damaged, to report drug dealing or a minor traffic accident.
999 is for real emergencies where there is a danger to life or a crime in progress.
The change in number is good news to the many people who found it really difficult to remember the old number as it was so long.
