Fartown affordable homes taking shape
Contractors for the Huddersfield-based housing group, part of the Incommunities Group, are building a mix of two and three bedroom properties for rent at Aquamarine Drive.
The site, formerly a disused goods yard, was assembled by Incommunities’ in-house development team and is only a short distance from the centre of Fartown.
Each property is being fitted with energy efficient central heating systems and fitted kitchen and bathrooms and landscaped gardens.
The £1.3 million development is being supported by the Homes and Communities Agency.
Hussain Brook, Head of Sadeh Lok said: “I’m delighted to see great progress being made on this development which will deliver more social rental homes for local people.”
“Sadeh Lok is committed to regenerating brownfield sites like this and working with our partners - Incommunities, Kirklees Council and the Homes and Communities Agency – who share our vision to improve social housing provision in the area.”
Cllr Naheed Mather, Cabinet Member for Housing at Kirklees Council, said: “I am delighted to see the work on this new housing development get underway. Working with partners to develop new homes is essential to securing affordable housing for the future.
“The Council, Sadeh Lok, and Incommunities have worked hard to ensure this scheme goes ahead. The new development has been designed in a way that not only secures access for cyclists and pedestrians using the adjacent greenway, but also creates a quality development for new residents.
“I look forward to seeing the scheme progressing over the coming months.”
The new homes are due to be completed in September 2017.
