About Sadeh Lok:

Sadeh Lok was formed in 1988 to serve the needs of black and minority ethnic communities and remains strongly committed to achieving excellence in the provision of high quality affordable homes for these and other disadvantaged communities.

The group structure was formed in 2003 through the creation of housing divisions for West Yorkshire and Humberside and the formation of two subsidiary companies. Access Matrix, which is a Research and Policy Advisory Company operating nationally and Up & Working LTD an "Employmemt Agency with a Difference". This unique community driven company prides itself on recycling profits from placing individuals in to permanent, temporary and excutive positions as well as providing a range of staff dedicated to changing the lives of local people who have barriers to employment. These include people from the longterm unemployed to highly skilled executives whose barriers may include confidence issues, language/learning difficulties and disabilities or those who require general recruitment guidance on interview skills and CV operation.

The group structure reflects our expanding role as a mainstream, black-led registered social landlord and that growth will change our customer base which, in turn, will mirror the changing make-up of the wider community with a growing emphasis on minority ethnic groups.

We challenge strongly the view that small deliverers of quality service in Northern England should be encouraged or even forced to merge with mainstream providers. BME social landlords produce an added return on investment by producing quality, qualified, confident managers who move into the mainstream and change the diversity performance of the sector as a whole and Sadeh Lok intends to continue to produce this added return on investment in its capacity as a strong independent association.
